Some students with statements of special educational needs have additional support. Teachers employ a range of teaching styles and work is differentiated to meet individual needs. Teachers plan and prepare lessons which are differentiated, where appropriate, to suit the needs and abilities of each pupil. As well as writing this into the termly plans, teachers use the pupil’s Individual Education Plan to set targets in learning and behaviour in consultation with parents or with their knowledge. IEP’s are reviewed every term and each student’s statement is reviewed annually. Although we are a school specialising in learning difficulties, it is not uncommon for students to have a combination of needs, which includes specific learning difficulty (for example dyslexia or ADHD). Support for literacy and numeracy extends across the curriculum.
